Wake / board: board that arises in the early 1980s after the advent of skiboard (snowboard) from a combination of slides skiing, snowboarding and surf.

Les roots come from "skurf", which was created in New Zealand by surfboard shaper Allan Byrne and his friends including Kevin Jarrett. Allan Byrne lent a skurf board to Jeff Darby and friends in Queensland (Australia), which began to create their own boards and returned later in contact with the surfer Tony Finn (San Diego, CA) that will create the brand marketing Skurfer a hybrid between a board and a waterskiing surf.

Today, wakeboarding is a sport with a variety of exteme broad face as boats and equipment have changed.
